to build. Unfortunately, it was abandoned after only ten years when the King, defeated by his brother, chose to
end his own life. The rock fortress is famous for its captivating frescoes of 'Celestial Maidens.' Although the
climb is steep, the breathtaking views and remarkable frescoes make it well worth the effort. To beat the heat
and crowds, it is recommended to visit Sigiriya early in the morning or just before sunset.

Following your visit to Sigiriya Rock, take the opportunity to explore a nearby local village. Enjoy leisurely walks

impressive 15-meter long reclining Buddha statue.
While continuing your journey to Kandy, you'll have the opportunity to explore spice plantations in Matale. Sri
Lanka is renowned for its diverse range of spices, including cinnamon, pepper, and nutmeg, which played a
significant role in the country's history, attracting the attention of Portuguese, Dutch, and British colonizers. At
the spice plantations, you can witness the cultivation process and learn about the various spices. Additionally,
you'll have the chance to visit a batik factory, where you can observe the artistic production of this unique
fabric.
Upon arrival in Kandy, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. This temple, founded in the
16th century, houses one of Buddhism's most sacred relics: a tooth of Buddha collected from his funeral pyre.
